Raiders Sign Four

Four high school basketball players have signed national letters of intent to attend Wright State University and play basketball for the Raiders next fall, WSU head coach Scott Nagy announced today.
Grant Basile, Jeremiah Davenport, Malachi Smith and Skyelar Potter will join the Raiders following graduation.
"We are very fortunate to sign four young men who we feel fit our style play very well while being great additions to the culture in our locker room," Nagy said.
Basile, a 6-8 senior forward at Pewaukee (WI) High School, averaged 13.6 points and 11.5 rebounds per game and was a unanimous choice to earn first-team All-Conference in the Woodland West for the Pirates that went 21-4 and won the league title. His father, Mike Basile, is his high school coach.
"Grant is a skilled big man that we love," Nagy said. "He has a great shooting ability but also can dribble and pass well. Being a son of a Coach he is a smart player who values developing his game."
Davenport, a 6-5 senior forward at Moeller High School in Cincinnati, helped the Fighting Crusaders to a 29-1 record and an appearance in the state title game, he collected 17 points and seven rebounds in the semifinals against Pickerington Central. He also had 14 points in the regular-season win over Winton Woods. He shot 56.1% overall from the field.
"Jeremiah is a tough forward who always plays hard and comes from a winning program," Nagy said. "He brings all the intangibles we need in our program and expect him to carry on his winning ways."
Malachi, a 6-2 senior guard at Belleville (IL) West High School, averaged 12.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 steals in 29 games as a junior. He shot 49% overall, 35% from three and 82% from the free throw line.
"Malachi is everything we like in a guard," Nagy said. "He is big for his position and is very skilled and understands the game. The way he plays translates well to our style."
Potter, a 6-3 senior at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, KY, averaged 20.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game last season. Last season, he helped lead the Dragons to a 17-14 overall record, falling just short of a district run in the first round of the 14th District tournament, an overtime loss to Greenwood. Potter had his career-best 45 points with 10 threes against Holy Cross (KY) as a junior.
"Skyelar is a tremendous shooter and has an uncanny ability to rebound the basketball from the guard position, which are two traits we love as a staff." Nagy said.
The Raiders went 20-12 last year and open the 2017-18 season at Loyola (IL) tonight at 8 pm eastern.
