Raiders Host UIC Thursday
For a second-consecutive week, Wright State's Loudon Love earned Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors, conference officials announced today.
Love scored 16 points and pulled down a game-best 12 rebounds on Friday to help Wright State defeat ACC opponent Georgia Tech on the road, 85-81, for his fourth double-double of the sweason. Connecting on seven of his nine field goal attempts, Love finished as the Raiders' third leading scorer and one of five Wright State players to score in double figures. Three nights earlier, he tallied five points and eight rebounds in a 66-50 loss at Missouri State. In the setback, he hauled in a game-high five offensive rebounds. Averaging a double-double of 10.5 points and 10 rebounds in the two contests, Love overtook Detroit Mercy's Kameron Chatman as the Horizon League's rebounding leader with 111 through 13 games.Â
Love's Freshman of the Week honor was his second in as many weeks. It was also the fourth time in seven weeks that a WSU player received this honor as Everett Winchester was selected twice in the first three weeks of the season. The Raiders, 8-5 overall and winners of eight of its last ten games, will open Horizon League play Thursday as they host UIC at 7 pm.
