Women's Basketball wins 88-60

Jumping out to a 19-3 first quarter lead, the Wright State women's basketball team picked up its third Horizon League win 88-60 at Detroit Mercy Saturday afternoon. Four Raiders led the offensive attack with a double-figure scoring efforts from senior Chelsea Welch with 29 points, Mackenzie Taylor with 15 points and Lexi Smith with 14 points. Symone Simmons had her second double-double of the weekend with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Emily Vogelpohl grabbed 11 rebounds.

Wright State is now 12-4 and 3-1.

GAME SUMMARY

First Half Highlights

The Raiders took a 44-23 lead into the locker room at halftime
Welch had 20 points with six field goals and seven free throws.
Smith collected nine points and eight rebounds.
WSU shot 44.4% from the field with 16 field goals made and outrebounded the Titans 24-10.
UDM shot 41% from the field and committed 13 turnovers.

It was Welch's sixth straight 20+ point game as she added nine boards and five assists.

The Raiders outscored the Titans in the paint 42-16 and second-chance points 27-9.
The Titans had 14 total turnovers as the Raiders scored 16 points from them. WSU had only eight turnovers.
It was the Raiders' ninth game of 80 or more points this season.
