Wright State falls 75-68 to Phoenix

The Wright State women's basketball team had a back and forth game at #20 Green Bay before falling 75-68 Saturday afternoon as the Raiders led by as much as eight points late in the first half.

Senior Chelsea Welch led both teams with 24 points, seven rebounds, four assist and four steals while Mackenzie Taylor ended with 17 points, including four threes.

The Raiders are now 16-8, 7-5 as the Phoenix jump to 21-2, 11-1.

GAME SUMMARY

First Half Highlights

The Raiders kept it close after the first quarter as Green Bay led 19-18 while Taylor had six points from two threes.
Wright State took the lead and went to the locker room up 42-38 after leading by as much as eight at 40-32 thanks to a 10-2 run.
Taylor had 14 points from four threes, as did Welch, who connected on seven field goals and grabbed five rebounds.
The Raiders shot 55% from the field while the Phoenix shot 56%.
Five WSU steals caused seven GB turnovers.

Second Half Highlights

The teams went back and forth in the third quarter as the Phoenix were up 52-51 at the buzzer.
The Phoenix outscored the Raiders in the final period 23-17 and shot 67% from the field.
Wright State shot just 20% in the second half, making five shots from the field.
Green Bay hit five of its final seven field goals to seal the win.

FACTS AND FIGURES

Lexi Smith grabbed eight rebounds, and Emily Vogelpohl added 12 points.
Green Bay outscored the Raiders 40-22 in the paint and 17-11 for points off turnovers.
The Raiders outscored Green Bay 14-11 for second chance points and off the bench 8-5.
The Phoenix shot 57% from the field while WSU shot 40% overall.

NEXT UP

The Raiders come home for a 5 pm game against Detroit Mercy Thursday and a 4:30 pm game Saturday against Oakland.
