Raiders End Season at Toledo

The Wright State women's basketball team returned to post-season play for the fifth straight as they played at Toledo Friday night in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). WSU fell to the Rockets 64-50.
Junior Emily Vogelpohl led the way with 13 points, six rebounds and four steals while Symone Simmons finished with 10 points and seven boards. Freshman Tyler Frierson came off the bench for six points and seven rebounds.
Wright State ended the season at 23-11 while the Rockets go to 18-14 and will play at Michigan State Monday night.

- The Rockets jumped out early and held the lead throughout the half, up 18-11 after the first quarter and 34-22 as the buzzer blew.
- Vogelpohl had five points while Simmons had four points and four rebounds. Frierson came off the bench for four points.
- The Raiders shot 26% from the field, hitting nine of 35 as UT shot 45% (13-29).
- Wright State had only three turnovers but were outrebounded 23-20.
- Toledo continued to dominate and led 51-32 after three quarters though the Raiders outscored the Rockets in the final 10 minutes 18-13.
- The Raiders had three threes in the game that all came in the second half.
- WSU went nine of 33 from the field in the last period.
- UT outrebounded WSU 25-20.
- The Rockets outscored the Raiders 26-24 in the paint and 19-14 off the bench.
- Wright State forced 15 turnovers, scoring 15 points. WSU had just seven turnovers.
- UT led throughout with its largest lead of 22 coming in the third quarter.
- WSU has gone 48-20 in two years under head coach Katrina Merriweather with two WNIT bids.
- The Raiders have posted five straight 20-plus win seasons.
