The Wright State softball team will be holding walk-on tryouts for the 2008-09 season on Wednesday, September 10, starting at 3:00 at the WSU Softball Field.

To be eligible to tryout, each student must be enrolled full time at Wright State, cleared by the NCAA Clearing House and provide proof of a physical in the last year before participation. NO ONE will be allowed to tryout without first stopping by the athletic offices and picking up a packet of info. The packet will include physical forms. Potential athletes will have to have their physicals and fill out the information in the packet and have it returned to our office BEFORE they will be allowed to tryout. Participants will also need to bring appropriate workout clothing and equipment, with WSU providing the bats.

Players will be evaluated in the following areas: speed, fielding, throwing, hitting and short game (bunting and slapping). We will evaluate the pitchers in the following areas: location, movement, velocity and the ability to change speeds. Catchers will be asked to throw from home to second and will also be evaluated on their ability to field bunts and throw to the different bases. Hitting will be done against live pitching to better evaluate the hitter.
