INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Wright State men's soccer team had one player honored by the Horizon League, when the 2006 Men's Soccer All-League Team was announced on Wednesday, October 25. Braden Fleak piled up the awards, completing the Freshman-Trifecta, garnering All-Newcomer Team honors, All-League First Team accolades and was named the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year.
Fleak led the Green and Gold in goals scored and points this season, netting 13 tallies and assisting on three more for 29 total points. Fleak was tied for first in the league in goals scored, with Player of the Year recipient Joshua Okoampa, and ranked second in points and game winning goals.
Fleak's 13 goals places him in a tie for ninth place on the single-season goals list and set the single-season Division I scoring record for the Green and Gold. His goal total is the highest for a Raiders since Jim Kinderdine netted 13 goals in 1986.
Fleak became the first Raider rookie to garner All-League First Team honors and is the fourth Raider in the past ten years to garner Newcomer of the Year honors. This season, Fleak ranks among the nations elite in both points and goals scored. Fleak is one of two freshman that rank in the top-20 in points-per-game (1.71) and is the only freshman in the top-15 in goals-per-game (0.76).
The Raiders will return to action on Saturday, October 28 as they travel to the Windy City to face off with UIC in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament. The eighth-seeded Raiders will look to knock off the top-seeded Flames at 8:00 Dayton Time at Flames Field in Chicago.
