The Wright State softball team erased an early 5-0 deficit with nine unanswered runs, but had to hold off a Detroit rally in the seventh before posting a 9-8 win over the Titans to complete a series sweep Sunday in Detroit.

Detroit built a 5-0 lead with a run in the first and four in the second, but WSU started its comeback with a run in the third and went in front for good with five in the fourth.  After Taylor Knore walked and Becka Peterson singled down the left field line, Kacie Rapshus drove in Knore with a hit to center.  Kristi Boreing had a bunt single to load the bases and, one out later, Angie Clark cleared them with a grand slam home run to left center, her third home run of the season.

The Raiders extended the advantage to 9-5 in the sixth with three more runs.  The first run came in on a Jess Gorman RBI single with the final two coming in on an error.

Krystian DeWitt (6-10) came on in relief in the fourth and threw three shutout innings before running into trouble in the seventh as the Titans scored three times and had the potential tying and winning runs on base.  The senior righthander, though, escaped the threat and preserved the victory by getting the final batter to fly out to right.

Clark finished with two hits and two runs scored along with her four RBI while Peterson had three hits and Gorman and Rapshus two hits each.

Wright State (10-25, 6-4 Horizon) hosts Ohio State in a single game Tuesday at 6:00.
