Wright State women's basketball fell Wednesday night to Providence 74-69 in the second day of the Savannah Invitational.
First Quarter Highlights
Symone Simmons hit a layup at 9:18 as the Raiders took the early lead 2-0. The Raiders held a 12-11 lead at the end of the first ten minutes as Simmons,
Chelsea Welch and
Mackenzie Taylor each had four points. WSU shot 45% and outrebounded Providence 8-7.
Second Quarter Highlights
PC fired back and took the lead 22-17 with under five minutes remaining until the Raiders came back to score eight straight for the 25-22 lead to end the half. WSU kept the Friars from scoring in the final 4:47. Ending the half, Welch had six points and
Lexi Smith had five points and four rebounds. The Raiders held the lead for more than 13 minutes of the first 20.
Third Quarter Highlights
The Big East came back to grab the lead at the three-quarter break 49-45. Welch now leads with 14 points overall as Smith has 10 points with nine rebounds
Fourth Quarter Highlights
PC kept its lead and won 74-69. Welch ended the game with 24 points as she also collected her 1,000 career point (including two years at Pitt) as Smith finished with 15 points and 10 boards.Â
Emily Vogelpohl had seven points and eight rebounds with Taylor posting 12 points. WSU shot 42% and won the boards 36-23 while they scored 19 points off turnovers.

The Raiders (3-2) will finish up the Savannah Invitational Thursday as they play Richmond at 2 pm.
