@WSUVBall Drops Match at Milwaukee

The Wright State volleyball team stayed on the road to play a match at Milwaukee Saturday afternoon where they fell 3-1 by scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-23.  The Raiders are now 11-11 and 3-7.

Teddie Sauer led the way for all players with 18 kills, 14 digs, three block assists and an ace while hitting .302.  Alannah Lemming ended with 12 kills as she hit .346 with three block assists.  Lainey Stephenson collected 47 assists and four kills as Celia Powers had 17 digs with eight kills.  WSU hit .160 for the match.

First Set
Wright State shot to a 6-4 start until the Panthers tied it at eight points each.  The teams exchanged points when WSU took a 17-15 lead.  Milwaukee crept back to lead 20-19, causing a WSU timeout.  The Panthers took the win 25-22.  Sauer had five kills and five digs as Powers collected four kills and five digs.  Stephenson ended with 13 assists.

Second Set
Milwaukee scored the first four points before the Raiders could post a point.  Staying strong, the Raiders tied it at eight each and took the lead that caused a Panther timeout.  WSU led 22-17 when Milwaukee mounted a comeback, but the Raiders held on to win 25-21.  The Raiders hit .220 as Sauer pulled in six kills to hit .667.

Third Set
The Raiders took a 5-0 lead as Milwaukee called a timeout that spurred a 5-5 tie.  The score stayed tight, but the Panthers prevailed 25-19.  Mallory Ladd had four kills while Lemming and Taylor Gibson each finished with three kills.

Fourth Set
It was a close set as Milwaukee led early, including 15-13.  WSU closed it to 19-18, taking a 20-19 lead.  The Panthers tied it at 20 each and took the lead 22-20 as WSU called a timeout.  The Raiders tied it at 22 but fell 25-22.  Sauer hit .308 with six kills with three digs as Lemming ended the set with four kills.

Next Up
The Raiders return home to host IUPUI Friday night at 6 pm.  WSU defeated the Jaguars in Indianapolis earlier this season 3-1.  IUPUI will bring a 5-19 and 2-8 record.
