Raiders Win First Two at Morehead State

The Wright State volleyball team continued to roll, winning their fourth straight match as they defeated Saint Francis in the second match of the day at the Morehead State Invitational Friday afternoon 3-1.  The scores of the four-set match were 23-25, 25-13, 25-9 and 25-18.  Saint Francis is now 0-6.

Three Raiders posted double digits in kills with Abby Barcus 17, Celia Powers 16 and Teddie Sauer 14 as WSU hit .304 for the match.  Barcus also posted 29 digs as Lainey Stephenson collected 43 assists.  Powers and Sauer teamed for 15 block assists. 

First Set
This set was tight throughout as Saint Francis led 16-12 of the widest margin before winning 25-23.  There were 14 ties and five lead changes.  The team hit .194 with Barcus leading the way at .500.  Powers had five kills with Barcus and Sauer each finishing with four kills. 

Second Set
The Raiders bounced back big in the second set with a 25-13 win to tie the match.  Raiders had 6-1, 16-7 and 23-9 before taking the win.  Barcus and Sauer each had four kills as Barucs also collected 9 digs.  Stephenson registered 10 assists.

Third Set
Wright State kept the pressure up as they won 25-9 with scoring streaks of five and six points.  Barcus continued strong play with a .556 hitting percentage on five kills and eight digs.  Stephenson again collected 10 assists.

Fourth Set
WSU shot out early and had leads of 10-6 and 20-12, winning 25-18.  Powers had seven kills in nine attempts to hit .778.  Stephenson had 11 assists.  WSU hit .361 for the fourth set.

Next Up
The Raiders will play the host Morehead State (5-1) Saturday at 2 pm.  Both teams are 2-0 this weekend.  The match will be shown through the Morehead State athletic website.
