@WSUVBall Drops Match at Youngstown State

The Wright State volleyball team dropped a match at Youngstown State 3-1 Friday night with scores of 25-22, 16-25, 25-21 and 25-22.  WSU is now 9-6, 1-2 while the Penguins go to 7-9, 1-2.

Teddie Sauer led the way on offense with 10 kills as Mallory Ladd and Celia Powers posted nine each while Alannah Lemming had eight.  WSU had 50 kills, hitting .119.  Lainey Stephenson finished with 31 assists and 11 digs.  Jenna Story collected 28 digs.

First Set
The Raiders started with a 7-4 lead but the Penguins tied it at eight and took a 10-9 advantage.  The teams bounced back and forth with each taking leads, including YSU at 20-16 and 23-21.  Youngstown won 25-22.  WSU was led by Gibson and Sauer with four kills each as Story had six digs and Stephenson eight assists.  Wright State had 14 total kills to 13 for YSU and led 17-15 in digs.

Second Set
Bouncing right back, Wright State took a 7-2, 12-8 and 19-13 leads and cruised to a 25-16 win.  The Raiders posted 12 kills to just eight for the Penguin whiles hitting .128 with three kills from Ladd and Sauer.

Third Set
This set was tighter as WSU led 10-8 and YSU 15-12 until the Penguins shot to a 22-14 advantage, and a 25-21 win. YSU hit .302 with 16 kills.  Lemming hit .375 with four kills as Stephenson put up 11 assists and Story 10 digs.

Fourth Set
The Raiders jumped to a 9-5 lead until YSU shot back with four straight points and won the set and match at 25-22.  Powers had a high of five kills while hitting .273.

Next Up
The Raiders travel to Cleveland State for a match with the Vikings at 4 pm Saturday.  CSU defeated Northern Kentucky 3-1 and are currently 9-6, 3-0.
