@WSUVBall Drops Match to App State

The Wright State volleyball team played its third match in 24 hours, falling to Appalachian State 3-1 Saturday afternoon by scores of 17-25, 11-25, 25-20 and 20-25.  The Raiders are now 6-3, and the Mountaineers are now 5-3.

Abby Barcus had nine kills and 22 digs while Celia Powers and Alannah Lemming had eight kills and two blocks each.  Lainey Stephenson posted 32 assists and 19 digs.

First Set
The Raiders jumped out to a 4-0 lead when the Mountaineers came back and led by as much as five at 17-12 and cruised to a 25-17 win.  Wright State hit .114 with two kills from Barcus, Sauer and Taylor Gibson with seven assists and seven digs from Stephenson.

Second Set
App State controlled the play early to add a 25-11 win.  Lemming collected three kills for the Raiders, and Barcus had six digs.

Third Set
The Raiders came out strong with leads of 7-2 and 18-9 to seal their first set win at 25-20.  WSU posted a .300 hitting percentage with Barcus' five Powers' four kills.  Stephenson posted 12 assists.

Fourth Set
Wright State had a 5-2 lead until ASU came back to take the lead and win 25-20.  Lemming finished with three kills as Stephenson, Powers and Sauer each finished with two kills.  Jenna Story collected seven digs.

Next Up

The Raiders play in the final non-conference tournament at the Crusader Classic in Valparaiso, IN next weekend where they play Western Illinois, Cornell and host Valpo.
