INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON — Wright State junior setter
Lauren Yacobucci has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the League office announced on Monday.
Yacobucci turned in a pair of double-double efforts as she guided Wright State to two road victories over the weekend. The setter passed out 98 total assists in seven sets, a 14.00 assists per set average, while tallying 29 total digs, a 4.14 digs per set average. Yacobucci led Wright State in both total digs and digs per set average for the weekend while running a Raider offense that finished with a .270 overall attacking percentage and 121 total kills over the two matches. Yacobucci opened the weekend with a 45-assist, 12-dig effort in Friday's sweep, adding an ace and a kill, before passing out 53 helpers with 17 digs, two kills, two blocks and an ace in Saturday's four set win.
Yacobucci has passed out 25-plus assists in all 27 matches to date, including 13 matches with 40 or more helpers, as she eclipsed the 1,000 assist mark for the season over the weekend. The two double-double efforts against Purdue Fort Wayne pushed Yacobucci to 13 for the season, while she takes a streak of four straight double-doubles into the final weekend of the regular season.
Wright State and Yacobucci are at home to close the regular season against Oakland on Friday and Saturday inside McLin Gymnasium. Both matches are scheduled to be streamed on ESPN+.
