Women’s Soccer to Open Conference Plat at Purdue Fort Wayne

DAYTON- The Wright State women's soccer team (3-5) will open up the Horizon League portion of their 2025 campaign on Thursday, September 18 on the road at Purdue Fort Wayne. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders recorded their second straight shutout to wrap-up non-conference play taking down Central Michigan 1-0 last Thursday. Samara Nunn got the Raiders on the board early netting her second goal of the season in just the second minute of the match. Nunn made a run up the line on the right side of the field, danced into the box where she slotted the ball past the Central Michigan goalkeeper. Freshman, Leigha Lauer, made her second third start in net for the Raiders, playing the first 45 minutes and recorded three saves. Graduate Student, Kiera Sarka, saw her first action in goal since the game at Valparaiso. Sarka played the second half in net and recorded three saves.
 
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
Purdue Fort Wayne enters Thursday's match with a 1-6-1 record on the season, with their lone win coming by way of a 6-0 shutout over Indiana Tech. Morgan Gallagher leads the way for the Mastodons offensively leading the team with two goals and two assists for a total of six points. Graduate student, Jordan Imes has started all eight games in net for Purdue Fort Wayne.

HISTORY VS. PURDUE FORT WAYNE
Thursday evening's match up will be 15th meeting all-time between Wright State and Purdue Fort Wayne, a series that the Raiders lead 10-1-3. The two squads met last season at Alumni Field with the Raiders coming out on top 2-0.

UP NEXT
Following Thursday's match the Raiders will return home to Alumni Field on Sunday, September 21 as Detroit Mercy comes into town. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and the first 50 fans in the gate will receive a Wright State soccer scarf.
 
BURGER QUEEN
Wright State juniors, Caitlin Burger, has been a spark for the Raiders offensively. Her seven points and three goals are both good for the team lead. Burger has recorded a goal in three separate contests, scoring against Fairmont State, Louisville, and Chicago State.

SIZING UP THE 2025 SQUAD
WSU welcomes eight newcomers — including seven freshmen — to this season's roster. The Raiders' 34-player roster includes the seven freshmen, six sophomores, 10 juniors, nine seniors and a pair of graduate students.

Wright State's 2025 roster features 24 players from Ohio – including 14 from the Dayton metro area (Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Dayton, Miamisburg, Springboro, Tipp City, Troy, Vandalia, Xenia).
