Tim O'Neal has the fine distinction of being the first WSU athlete to compete in a Division I national tournament when he qualified after finishing as the runner-up in the Division II Tournament in 1979. That same year, he was selected as a third-team All-American and led the Raiders to a fourth place showing nationally.
Named the team MVP in each of his four seasons with the Raiders, he finished on a high note averaging 77.7 in 21 rounds in his senior season.
