Two WSU Team Physicians Honored by OATA
Dr. Frank Mannarino and Dr. James Tytko will both be honored at the 18th Annual Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association Symposium at Kings Island Resort on May 3.
Dr. Mannarino, team physician at WSU, Miamisburg High School and for the Dayton Dragons, will receive the OATA/Cleveland Clinic Team Physician Award which is designed to recognize team physicians who are committed to the care of competitive athletes, work effectively with athletic trainers and actively support the profession of athletic training.
Besides being an orthopedic surgeon at the Orthopedic Institute of Dayton, Dr. Mannarino is director of the Kettering Sports Medicine Center and has an appointment at Wright State University to the School of Medicine and the College of Education. He also received the Ohio
State Medical Association Team Physician Award in January, 2002.
Dr. Tytko will receive Honorary membership in the OATA during the same symposium May 3. This honor is given to physicians who have shown, through acts and speech, a profound interest in the advancement of the athletic training profession.
Besides his work as the WSU Associate Director of Athletic Training Education and Services, he has worked with Oakwood High School since 1982 as well as with the Alter High School football team. A Family Practice Physician, Dr. Tytko also oversees the Sports Medicine Fellowship and residents at the Kettering Sports Medicine Center. He has a clinical
appointment at Wright State to the School of Medicine and to the College of Education.
