Raiders roll past TItans, 13-2

Fairborn, OH -- The Wright State baseball team defeated the University of Detroit-Mercy today in their Horizon League opener by a final score of 13-2. The Raiders used an array of timely hitting and capitalized on four Titan errors en route to victory.
The Raiders scored four in both the second and third innings to distance themselves from the Titans .In the second inning in all started after Pat Masters led off by reaching on a fielding error and Ross Vagedes singled up the middle, advancing Masters to second. Then Matt Barhorst turned a sacrifice into a bunt single down the third baseline, loading the bases. Jack Leopard then was hit by a pitch, scoring Masters from third. Two sacrifice flies and an RBI single followed to cap off the inning.
The Raider offense pounded out sixteen hits and scored in five innings on their way to the victory. Leading the way for the Raiders were Pat Masters who went three-for-five, while scoring three runs. Chris Coleman and Matt Barhorst each had two hits and two RBI and Jack Leopard paired with Ross Vagedes for two hits apiece.
On the hill for the Raiders tonight was sophomore Chris Snyder who pitched seven beautiful innings before handing over the ball. Snyder, now 1-1, allowed only three hits in his seven innings of work walking one batter a fanning five. In the eighth Matt Crawford came on and was relieved freshman Dillon Chaney in the ninth.
The Titans scored their only two runs in the final two innings off of the Raider relief Detroit (2-15, 0-1 HL) was led by Mark Moehlig and Jason Chapieski with two hits apiece.
Wright State improves to 9-13 overall and 1-0 in Horizon League play. The Raiders play host to Detroit for a doubleheader Saturday, April 3 with the first game scheduled for a Noon start.
