
Wright State's Eckstein, Wieczerzak Sweep League Swimming Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Wright State swimming and diving program have swept the Horizon League Swimmer of the Week awards for the second consecutive week. Senior Aaron Eckstein and freshman Krystyna Wieczerzak garnered the honor for the week ending October 28.
Eckstein helped the men's squad improve their overall record to 4-0 with three league victories last week. The senior posted four individual event wins during the week and helped the Raiders medley relay team keep an unblemished record through four meets.
The Indiana native opened the week with a pair of victories against Green Bay at the WSU Natatorium. Eckstein posted a win in the 1,000 yd. Freestyle, with a time of 9:53.33, and then took the victory in the 100 yd. Backstroke in a time of 53.52. The senior led off the meet with the Phoenix by swimming the lead leg for the victorious 200 yd. Medley Relay team.
During the teams trip to UIC and Valparaiso, Eckstein won a pair of individual events and again helped WSU open the meet with victories in the Medley Relays. At UIC, the senior won the 200 yd. Backstroke event with a time of 1:52.80 and posted a time of 53.11 in the 100 yd. Backstroke in a victory at Valparaiso.
Wieczerzak posted individual victories in five different events this past week and helped WSU to a pair of relay victories. The rookie opened the week with a triumph in the 1,000 yd. Freestyle event against Green Bay in a time of 10:28.72. Against the Phoenix, Wieczerzak helped WSU close the meet with a victory in the 200 yd Freestyle Relay.
At UIC, the freshman helped WSU open the meet with a victory in the 400 yd. Medley Relay, swimming the lead leg for the Green and Gold. She also posted a winning time of 2:10.97 in the 200 yd IM and followed that with a first place finish in the 500 yd. Freestyle, boating a time of 5:02.87. Then at Valparaiso, Wieczerzak took the title in the 400 yd IM in 4:33.96 and closed out her week with a victory in the 100 yd. Backstroke, posting a time of 59.48.
The Women's Swimming and Diving squad will return to action on Friday, November 2 when they host Youngstown State in a women's only competition at 4:30. Both teams will travel to Oakland on Saturday, November 3 for a 1:00 meet with the Golden Grizzlies.
