Softball Falls in Extra Innings at Green Bay

Wright State rallied to tie the game in the fourth on a three-run home run by Justine Shilt, but managed just one hit the rest of the way as Green Bay pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 Horizon League softball decision at Riverside Park in Allouez, Wisconsin, Friday afternoon.
Green Bay took a 3-0 lead with a single run in the second and two more in the third, but the Raider offense finally came alive in the fourth. With two outs and no one on base, Jamie Perkins walked, Kristen Bradshaw singles and Justine Shilt crushed the first pitch she saw over the fence in left center to tie the game. It was Shilt's eighth homer of the season, her fourth in the last two days and her fifth of the week.
WSU, however, managed just two baserunners the rest of the way against Phoenix pitcher Amanda Margelofsky, both of them coming from Perkins as she walked in the sixth and singled to center in the ninth.
The Phoenix scored the winning run in the ninth as Mollie Kaebisch led off with a hit to center, was bunted to second by Alli Rivera and scored on Kendra Woepse's single to right.
Sharon Palma (7-7) was the tough-luck loser for the Raiders as she allowed just that one run in 5.1 innings of relief, striking out five.
Wright State (18-15, 6-4 Horizon) wraps up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2:00 Eastern.
