The Wright State women's soccer team was less than two minutes away from victory in its Horizon League opener at Loyola, but the Ramblers scored to force overtime and added another goal late to defeat the Raiders 2-1 in double overtime Friday night in Chicago.
The game was scoreless until Emilie Fillion took a loose ball in the middle and fired a shot past Rambler goalkeeper Katie Groesch for her second goal of the season at the 75:43 mark of the second half.
It stayed that way until the 88:07 mark when Loyola's Maggie Doe connected on a shot to the upper right corner for a goal to tie the match and sent it into overtime.
The Ramblers (3-8, 1-0 Horizon) scored the game-winner at the 107:48 mark of the second overtime on a goal by Tricia Stonebraker.
It was the third double overtime setback in the last four games for the Raiders and five of WSU's six losses this season have come by one goal.
Wright State (3-6, 0-1 Horizon) looks to bounce back on Sunday with a 1:00 matchup at Butler.
