Behind I'esha King's first two goals of her career, the women's soccer team defeated Loyola 2-1 on Senior Night Saturday at Alumni Field.
King, who was one of 10 seniors recognized before the contest, gave WSU a 1-0 at the 52:34 mark of the second half as she broke away from two Rambler defenders and connected on a shot in the middle of the box. Fellow senior Brittany Persaud recorded the assist, her eighth of the year.
King struck again nearly 20 minutes later at the 72:09 mark as her shot from the left side of the box glanced off a Loyola defender and into the net.
Loyola (4-9-3, 0-3-2 Horizon) cut the deficit in half at the 78:09 mark on a penalty kick by Ana Michelini, her fourth goal of the year, but the Raiders held on for the victory as freshman goalkeeper Anna Nock, making her first collegiate start, recorded four saves.
The win was the 75th for Pat Ferguson as Wright State's head coach as he is now 75-45-13 in seven years at the helm. Ferguson earlier earned career win #150 as the Raiders won 1-0 in Green Bay last Sunday.
Wright State (7-6-2, 2-2-1 Horizon) hits the road for a pair of matches next week, visiting Detroit on Wednesday, October 19, at 4:00 followed by Valparaiso on Sunday, October 23, at 2:00 Eastern.
