Carly Stepp knows her surroundings pretty well as she has been swimming in the area her entire life. A product of nearby Beavercreek High School, Stepp experienced many successes as she was able to make it to state all four years.
Being a senior this year, Stepp is very proud of the fact that she has been able to make it to finals every year that she has swam in college, but also it has made her look back at what started her whole swimming career. She had two brothers who were into swimming and that was what made her start swimming competitively early in life.
"I have been able to gain a good sense of time management because of swimming," said Stepp. "I have especially learned it due to swimming in college."
Not only has Carly gained time management skills, but she also has been able to make great memories. She recalls the bus rides as being some of her fondest memories of being with the team and also getting best times at the conference meet.
With success, though, come trials that everyone must face. For Stepp, it was the occasional back injuries that she has had to fight off to become a great swimmer. She has endured each injury, however, to become a very successful swimmer.
When Stepp dives into the water, one word can describe how she is going to swim--consistent. With each and every stroke, she puts in her best effort and even when out of the water, she feels that she is an incredibly supportive person for her team.
As her swimming career at Wright State comes to an end, look for this senior to put her best into it and swim consistently at her last conference meet.
