Dear Raider Fans,
Welcome to our new website. This past spring, we contracted with NeuLion to completely redesign our web platform to allow us improved communications with you. Our goal is to increase the number of videos and media updates, so you can become closer to the Raiders. While we will videostream many home events through the Horizon League Network, this new format will allow us to increase the number of on-demand content as well. As you explore the new website, I encourage you to look for our new online store that is coming soon, as well as quick links to the Raiders' Facebook and Twitter accounts.
It is a great time to be a Raider, and I want to share a few highlights from the past academic year:
1. WSU Student-Athletes have now completed 26 straight quarters with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
2. The WSU baseball team won the Horizon League Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in six years.
3. Springfield, OH native Cassandra Lloyd became the school's first Division I Track All American.
4. WSU Athletics received national exposure with six ESPN Network appearances by men's basketball.
5. WSU Student-Athletes, coaches and staff completed more than 200 hours of community service.
6. Women's basketball had its best Division I season, winning 20 games.
Here are some things to look for on the Horizon:
1. This fall, the soccer teams will play in the newly renovated Rinzler Complex equipped with turf fields, team rooms, restrooms and concession stand. This addition will allow our soccer teams to have a more consistent playing surface regardless of the weather conditions, as well as allow our WSU students added opportunities to compete in intramural and club sports. We feel Alumni Soccer Field was always one of the best venues in the Horizon League, but now we can boast one of the best facilities in the Midwest. Part of this project will also add lights to the WSU Softball Stadium.
2. In the coming weeks, the current video board in the Nutter Center will be replaced with a tremendous, state of the art board from Daktronics. This new board will rank among the best in the region and should tremendously impact your game-day experience.
As we enter our 25th year as a Division I Department, we can all take pride in our accomplishments because it is with your great support that we are able to boast of these triumphs. I hope you can bring your family out to enjoy the Rinzler Complex in the fall and see the new video board this winter at basketball games. As always, feel free to drop me a note at the "Ask the AD" section on wsuraiders.com.
Raider Up!
