The softball team dropped a pair of games Friday at the FAU Kick-Off Classic in Boca Raton, Florida, falling to Kentucky 3-0 and host Florida Atlantic 6-2.
The Raiders hung close with Kentucky in the opener, a team that advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals last season, as the Wildcats scored a run in the second and two in the fourth. WSU's two hits came from Kristi Boreing and Michelle Baker.
In the nightcap, Florida Atlantic struck first with a pair of runs in the top of first, only to see Wright State answer with one in the bottom half of the inning as Kate Kine hit her second home run of the season, a solo shot to left.
WSU tied it in the second with another run as Colleen Schneider walked with one out, went to a second on an Angie Clark hit and scored on an error off the bat of Kristi Boreing.
Florida Atlantic, however, went back in front to stay with two in the third and two more in the fourth.
Wright State (2-4) continues tournament play Saturday with two more games, facing LIU Brooklyn at 11:00 followed by Maryland at 4:00.
