The Wright State softball team wrapped up the home portion of its schedule Wednesday night with a split against Ohio, winning the opener 8-4 before dropping a 6-2 decision in the nightcap.
WSU took advantage of three Bobcat errors in scoring six times in the bottom of the first inning of game one and made it 7-1 in the third as Chelsea Archer bunted in Angie Clark.
Ohio cut the margin to 7-4 with three in the fourth, only to see the Raiders answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame on three straight singles by Michelle Baker, Colleen Schneider and Kate Kine.
Krystian DeWitt (15-25) shutout Ohio the rest of the way in earning the win with four strikeouts. Kristi Boreing, Kortney Tackett and Schneider each had two hits while Kine drove in two.
The second game saw the Bobcats gradually build a 5-0 advantage before WSU finally broke through with a run in the fifth as Boreing's double to center plated Reagan Stofcheck. Wright State's final run came in the seventh as Kine homered to center, her third of the season.
Wright State (22-30) closes out the regular season this weekend with a three-game Horizon League series at UIC, starting with a Saturday doubleheader at 2:00 Eastern.
