
Women's Soccer Defeats Mount Vernon Nazarene

The Wright State women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 3-0 decision over Mount Vernon Nazarene Monday night at Alumni Field.
Senior Emilie Fillion opened the scoring for the Raiders as she gathered in a rebound in the middle of the box and connected on her second goal of the season at the 22:54 mark of the first half. Freshman Kalee Thompson recorded the assist, her second of the year.
Junior Emily Reddington then made it 2-0 with her first goal of the year at the 42:19 mark of the opening period, with sophomore Michelle Rick posting her first assist.
Freshman Ini Umotong then rounded out the scoring with her first collegiate goal at the 63:48 mark of the second half, with Fillion tallying her first assist of the season.
Defensively, goalkeepers Brooke McCurdy, Kelsey Deal and Alex Hoferkamp combined to post the shutout as WSU allowed the Cougars to attempt just two shots on the night.
The Raider offense, meanwhile, took 28 shots for the match, with freshman Lucy Quinn attempting six and Fillion and Umotong four each.
Wright State (2-0) now heads to Boulder, Colorado, this weekend for the Omni Hotels Colorado Classic, facing Denver on Friday, August 24, at 3:30 Eastern followed by host Colorado on Sunday, August 26, also at 3:30 Dayton time.
