
Freshmen Lead Women Past Morehead State

Freshmen accounted for all of the scoring Sunday afternoon as the Wright State women's soccer team defeated Morehead State 2-0 at Alumni Field.
Kalee Thompson gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead at the 33:44 mark of the first half as her shot found the left side of the net on an assist by Amy Anderson. It was the first collegiate goal for Thompson.
It remained 1-0 until just 1:08 remaining in the contest when WSU added an insurance goal as Ini Umotong converted a header. It was Umotong's third goal of the year with Anderson providing her second assist of the day and of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Brooke McCurdy recorded her fourth shutout of the season as she tallied two saves.
For the match, WSU outshot the Eagles 14-6, including an 8-2 margin on shots on goal.
Wright State (4-2-3) opens Horizon League play on Saturday, September 22, as the Raiders visit preseason favorite Milwaukee for a 4:00 Eastern contest.
