Dayton pitcher Kayla English threw a six-inning no-hitter as the Flyers defeated Wright State 9-0 Thursday afternoon at the WSU Softball Field.
The Flyers took advantage of a WSU error in the first in scoring five runs, including a grand slam by Dana Trotta and added two more runs in the fifth and two in the sixth on a two-run home run by Kathryn Hess.
In the circle, English retired the first 14 batters she faced before issuing a four-pitch walk to Hanna Floyd. That turned out to be the lone Wright State baserunner as English set down the final four hitters to complete the no-hitter.
Wright State (5-18) returns to Horizon League play this weekend as the Raiders host Green Bay in a three-game set that is set to begin with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00. Check in with wsuraiders.com for the latest updates.
