As the Wright State men's swimming & diving program was recently ranked 34th in the nation, the WSU women's team was recently ranked 10th in the nation's Top 25 Most Improved Teams by CollegeSwimming.com.
According to the article, “Head coach Kyle Oaks is in his second season and is already making a huge impact for the Raiders. Sophomore butterflier Emily Hayhow sits at second in the Horizon League in the 100 fly. The team has seven ladies ranked in the top 16 in at least one event in the conference. The Raiders were next to last at last year's Horizon League meet so this improvement is really good for the team moving forward.”
“Our teams started this season committing themselves to a process and that process is yielding some great results. I am very pleased with the improvements our women have made this season and it is great to have a site like CollegeSwimming.com recognizing those achievements. We're really excited to have some fun and swim fast in the coming weeks. I can't wait to see these girls at the Horizon League Championships!”
The WSU men's and women's teams will next be in action Friday at Xavier at 5 pm and will host Cleveland State Saturday. Saturday's meet will be Senior Day for the six seniors: Kile Auckerman, Greg Evershed and Mark Johnson for the men, and Marisa Melchior, Kortney Mullen and Sarah Weidner for the women. The meet will start at 1 pm with the ceremony slated for 12:40.
