An Alexis Mayle home run in the ninth gave the Wright State softball team a 2-1 Horizon League win at Cleveland State Sunday afternoon, completing a series sweep over the Vikings.

Unlike Saturday's doubleheader, which saw the Raiders win both in run-rule fashion, Sunday's matchup was a scoreless pitcher's duel for the first six innings. WSU starter Ally Russell allowed just one walk and no hits in four innings, with the walk being erased on a caught stealing, with Ashley Sharp pitching out of a jam in the sixth despite giving up two hits.

Viking starter Macy Kaisk shutout Wright State over the first six innings, giving up just four hits, but the Raiders finally broke through with a run in the seventh. With one out, Macy Cook singled to center and pinch-runner Ashton Salyers went to second on a Kelly Dillow bunt. Becka Peterson then delivered a hit to center to drive in Salyers.

WSU nearly added another run in the frame, but pinch-runner Karalyn Rhodeback was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a Jordan Kennaw infield hit. That turned out to be a big play as Mackenzie Joecken led off the bottom of the inning with a home run to force extra innings.

It stayed 1-1 until Mayle cracked her fourth home run of the season in the ninth to put the Raiders up for good.

Sharp (9-9) retired CSU in order in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game and pick up her third win of the weekend.

Honnah Susor had two hits to lead the way offfensively for Wright State (12-18, 7-2 Horizon), who is back on the road on Tuesday, April 11, for a 2:00 doubleheader at Morehead State.
