Women Win Friendship Invitational; Men Third

The Wright State cross country teams competed Saturday at the Friendship Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio.
The women's team took first overall, as junior Hailey Brumfield led the way for the Raider women, placing first in the 5k race with a time of 18:28. Also placing in the top ten:Â Aurora Turner was fifth at 19:00.6, Jessica Swartz was eighth at 19:04.6 and Molly Kearns was ninth at 19:09.1. Victoria Angelopoulos was just outside in 11th place at 19:15.9.
The men's team finished third as sophomore Nathan Dunn set the pace with an 8k time of 26:17, finishing sixth overall. Tyler Mathes was ninth with a time of 26:34.1.
"The goal for today was to continue to build positive momentum," WSU head coach Rick Williamson said. "And both teams certainly accomplished that. Big shout outs to the freshmen guys for handing their first 8k so well, to Tyler Mathes for having a big-time race, and to Vicky Angelopoulos for taking a monster step in her cross country development."
Wright State will be back in action Friday, September 29, as they travel back to Cedarville to compete in the All-Ohio Championships.
