Raider Softball welcomes six signees

Wright State softball coach Laura Matthews has announced the signing of six players join the Raider program and continue their educations at Wright State University.

The newest Raiders are: Cami Compson (Westerville, OH); Brooklynn Linneman (Cleves, OH); Logan Mueller (Lebanon, OH); Elle Potts (St. Michael, MN); Caitlyn Shumaker (Bellefontaine, OH) and Emma Summers (Nashville, IN).

"I could not be more excited about our 2020 class," Matthews said. "They are going to make an immediate impact on our program offensively, defensively and in the circle. We are bringing in six student-athletes who have competed at a high level of travel ball and are able to help us all over the field. Additionally, each of them exemplifies the PSA philosophy we value in Wright State athletic department. They excel as people, students and athletes and will make all Raider fans proud."

Here's what Coach Matthews had to say about each signee:

Cami Compson – OF – Westerville, OH

"Cami is one of the best hitters in the state of Ohio and showed it during her junior season at Westerville Central. She has shown the ability to hit for power and average, and we believe she it will translate immediately to the college game. Additionally, she has a powerful arm and good instincts in the outfield and on the bases."

Brooklynn Linneman – Pitcher – Cleves, OH

"Brooklynn is a power pitcher with tremendous upside. Her ability to light up the radar gun will add a different element to our pitching staff. We believe she is just scratching the surface of her ability and she has an opportunity to dominate and rack up strikeouts."

Logan Mueller – OF – Lebanon, OH

"Logan is a very mature softball player with great speed and athleticism. She has played high-level softball for both her high school and travel ball teams and knows how to win. She has a lot of nuances to her game, and we believe she will compete for playing time in our outfield."

Elle Potts – IF – St. Michael, MN

"We first saw Elle at one of our camps. She grabbed our attention because of her tremendous power at the plate. The more we watched her play and got to know her, we realized that she was more than just an explosive hitter. She is a phenomenal teammate and has a well-rounded game. We are excited to have her join our Raider program."

Caitlyn Shumaker – IF – Bellefontaine, OH

"Caitlyn is an elite multi-sport athlete who has dominated in multiple sports in high school, including soccer, basketball, track and softball. She is a unique player who will be able to hit for power, play elite defense and steal bases at a top level. She finished sixth in the state in the 300m hurdles last year, was named her conference's soccer player of the year and has been named all-state in softball. We love the well-rounded nature of her athleticism but are excited to have her talent dedicated to softball at the collegiate level."

Emma Summers – Pitcher – Nashville, IN

"Emma is an extremely polished pitcher who specializes in spin and location. Rarely do you see a pitcher who is as college-ready as Emma. She has starred on one of the top travel ball teams in the nation and has pitched and beaten some of the best competition in the country. She has been named All-State in Indiana twice and has dominated in the circle and at the plate in high school. Emma's ability to think the game at a high-level will add to the maturity and culture of our program immediately."
