Caitlin Burger and
Kaylin Helinski tallied goals in the Wright State women's soccer team's 4-2 loss at Robert Morris on Sunday at the North Athletic Complex.
The Raiders dropped to 4-4-2 on the season and 2-1 against Horizon League competition, while RMU improved to 8-2-2 overall and 2-2 in HL play.
Wright State found itself in an early deficit as the Colonials reached the scoreboard on a goal by Malia Kearns in the ninth minute. Burger netted an equalizer off an assist by
Kaitlyn Eyink at the 14-minute, but RMU's Kearns added a goal in the 39th minute and went into the halftime break up 2-1.
Robert Morris' Kearns recorded two more goals — both unassisted — in the 61st minute and 75th minute of the second half to extend the home team's advantage to 4-1. WSU was held scoreless in the second period until Helinski's goal with just 15 seconds remaining in the match.
Wright State finished the conference matchup with deficits in total shots (17-8), shots on goal (10-3), and corner kicks (10-2). Helinski paced the Raider attack with a team-high four shots, including two on goal.
Goalkeepers
Kiera Sarka and
Erin Baker both tallied three saves while allowing two goals apiece. Eyink logged a team-high 90 minutes of action for WSU's back line.
The Raiders return home for a Senior Day matchup against Oakland on Saturday, September 30.
