DAYTON – The Wright State athletics department is excited to announce the eight newest members of the Mary and Al Schwarz Hall of Fame as the Class of 2024. The eight inductees represent five different Raider athletic programs and is the largest class in Wright State's history.
The 2024 Mary and Al Schwarz Hall of Fame inductees are:
Kristen Bradshaw (softball),
Kim Demmings (women's basketball),
Seth Doliboa (men's basketball),
Jake Hibberd (baseball),
Sean Murphy (baseball),
Tony Ortiz (athletic department),
Jessica Rooma (women's soccer) and
Gabe Snyder (baseball).
"On behalf of Wright State Athletics, I want to congratulate these eight Raiders on their selections as the newest members of the Mary and Al Schwarz Hall of Fame," Director of Athletics Bob Grant said. "Each of these Raiders played significant roles for our University, athletics department and their respective programs. We look forward to celebrating them soon."
The induction ceremony will be Saturday, February 17, centered around the University's Homecoming celebrations. The Hall of Fame class of 2024 will be introduced during the men's basketball game against Robert Morris at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon.
Kristen Bradshaw (2007-2010)
One of the most accomplished players in softball program history, Kristen Bradshaw was a part of three Raider teams that won Horizon League championships and made trips to the NCAA Tournament during her time in the Green & Gold. Bradshaw started and played in 236 games in her Raider career, both program records, as her name covers the Wright State record book in both the career and single season categories. A two-time first team Horizon League player her final two seasons after being named a second team performer in her first two campaigns, Bradshaw was the 2010 Horizon League tournament MVP while being named to the all-tournament team and earning the tournament's defensive award. Wright State's all-time leader in career runs scored, doubles, total bases, runs batted in and defensive assists, Bradshaw is second all-time in six additional categories and also has the third-most home runs in program history.
Kim Demmings (2011-16)
The greatest player in Wright State women's basketball history, Kim Demmings is the all-time leading scorer in Horizon League women's basketball, with her 2,677 career points the most by any Wright State women's or men's basketball player in Raider history. Demmings played in the postseason four times while wearing the Green & Gold, including winning the 2014 Horizon League championship and going to the NCAA tournament that season. The Horizon League Player of the Year in 2014 and 2016, she was also the Horizon's Newcomer of the Year in 2012, a three-time first team HL performer, an HL second team selection, a member of the HL all-freshman team and a three-time Horizon League all-tournament team member, earning tournament MVP honors in 2014. Wright State's program leader in nine categories, including: career games played, field goals made, three-pointers made and assists, Demmings was also part of two Horizon League championship teams and two NCAA tournament appearances as a member of the Wright State coaching staff.
Seth Doliboa (2001-04)
A member of the Wright State men's basketball 1,000 point and 500 rebound clubs, Seth Doliboa is inside the Raider record book in several career and single season categories. A two-time Horizon League first team player, Doliboa was also a second team HL selection and earned a spot on the Horizon League all-newcomer team as well. His career made free throws and free throw attempts, along with career rebounds, are all 10th while his career rebounding average is tied for the seventh-highest and he is eighth all-time in career blocked shots while wearing the Green & Gold. He led Wright State in scoring during the 2002-03 season and was the Raiders' leading rebounder in three consecutive seasons from 2001-02 through 2003-04.
Jake Hibberd (2009-12)
An All-American selection for his play on the field and for his academics, Jake Hibberd is one of only two Raiders in program history to earn that distinction after his prolific 2011 season. The 2011 Horizon League Player of the Year, Hibberd added ABCA all-region and Louisville Slugger All-American honors for his work on the field, while he was also named an academic All-American in both 2011 and 2012. Part of two Horizon League regular season champions and two HL tournament championship teams, Hibberd played in the NCAA tournament in 2009 and 2011 and was a three-time Horizon League first team selection after beginning his career on the HL all-newcomer team. Tenth all-time in career games played, he is tied for the most hits and has the second-most at-bats and total bases in Raidergang history while being third in doubles and fourth in runs batted in while playing in the 10th-most games in program history with the eighth-most starts all time.
Sean Murphy (2014-16)
Originally a walk-on at Wright State, Sean Murphy is now a Major League all-star and left his mark on the Raiders. The 2014 Horizon League Freshman of the Year, he also garnered Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honors that season. A semifinalist for Johnny Bench Award, given to the nation's best collegiate catcher, in 2015, Murphy was also a Horizon League first team selection that season and earned a spot on the HL all-tournament team and the NCAA Regional Tournament Team, while his 2014 and 2016 seasons earned him Horizon League second team recognition. Part of two Horizon League regular season champions and two HL tournament championship teams, Murphy is sixth all-time in Raidergang history in career chances and career putouts. A third-round draft pick of the Oakland A's in the 2016 Draft, Murphy made his MLB debut in September 2019, connecting a home run in his first game at the highest level. A Gold Glove Award winner in 2021, Murphy was traded to the Atlanta Braves ahead of the 2023 season, eventually being named an all-star for the first time in his career and earning the start behind the plate for the National League in the Midsummer Classic.
Tony Ortiz (1984-2017)
As Wright State's Head Athletic Trainer and Program Director, Tony Ortiz has been associated with Wright State for over 30 years, distinguishing himself not only in the Dayton area but also throughout the state and across the country. Ortiz began his career as the Beavercreek City Schools athletic trainer from 1980-84 before joining the Raiders. Upon his arrival, he not only worked as the Head Athletic Trainer, but was integral in developing hundreds of area athletic trainers throughout his career by developing the athletic training education program. His reach in the athletic training community is vast and was integral to developing the profession across the region. Ortiz has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. A member of the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association (OATA) Hall of Fame, Ortiz was honored as one of nine national Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award recipients by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) in 2001. One of the founders of the Greater Dayton Athletic Trainers Association, Ortiz was recognized as the 1989 OATA Athletic Trainer of the Year, earned the 1999 NATA 25-Year Award, and was honored with the 1998 NATA Service Award, among numerous other awards and honors.
Jessica Rooma (2005-08)
A four-time Horizon League first team performer, Jessica Rooma's 2005 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year and HL first team selections were a sign of what was to come. A Horizon League first team selection each fall from 2005-2008, she is one of just 10 players in Horizon League history to earn that distinction. Also named the Raiders' team MVP each season, Rooma earned a spot on the 2005 SoccerBuzz.com all-region Freshman Team and was also named a SoccerBuzz.com third team all-region player in 2006. A National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NCSAA) third team all-region selection her first two years in 2005 and 2006, Rooma was an NCSAA second team all-region performer as a junior and senior in 2007 and 2008. Named to the 2007 Horizon League all-tournament team, Rooma is tied for the ninth-most games started in Wright State history.
Gabe Snyder (2015-18)
One of the most prolific players in Wright State baseball history, Gabe Snyder holds eight career records and was the 2018 Horizon League Player of the Year to cap off his Raidergang career. Snyder began his career as the HL Freshman of the Year and earned freshman All-American honors in 2015. A two-time member of the Horizon League all-tournament team, he was also an ABCA all-region performer in 2018 and received HL second team and all-freshman team selections in his career. Snyder leads the Raiders in career games played and started, while also being first in: career at-bats, doubles, home runs, runs batted in, total bases and putouts. Part of two Horizon League regular season champions and three HL tournament championship teams, Snyder played in the NCAA tournament in 2015, 2016 and 2018, and was a 21st round draft pick of the Minnesota Twins in 2018.
