Women’s Soccer Announces 2024 Schedule

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer program, led by head coach Travis Sobers, released their 2024 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The schedule is highlighted by eight home contests at Alumni Field this fall.
 
The Raiders will ready with two exhibition matches prior to the start of the regular season, first traveling to Toledo (Aug. 3), then to Miami (OH) (Aug. 8). Wright State will open the regular season in a road contest at Illinois (Aug. 15) and host their home opener on Aug. 22 against Mercyhurst.
 
After their Thursday home opener, the Raiders will be on the road for three games, returning to host five of their seven September contests at Alumni Field, first competing against Morehead State on Sep. 5 and Valparaiso on Sep. 8. The Raiders will stay close to home for their second September road-match, competing against in-town foe Dayton (Sep. 12). Wright State ends the month with three Horizon League matchups, first against Green Bay (Sep. 19), then Milwaukee (Sep. 22), and lastly against Cleveland State (Sep. 29).
 
October will have only two home matches, those being against Horizon League opponents IU Indianapolis and Purdue Fort Wayne on Oct. 17 and Oct. 20, respectively. The Raiders will begin the month with three road contests and will end the regular season on the road Oct. 26 and Oct. 30 against Robert Morris and Northern Kentucky.
 
The Horizon League Championship will start Nov. 3 with the No. 3 and 4 seeds hosting. The tournament will continue Nov. 7 and 9 at the site of the No. 1 seed.
 
Last fall, Wright State went 6-7-5 overall and advanced to the Horizon League Quarterfinals after tallying a 4-3-3 mark in Horizon League play. Two Raiders received All-League honors, as Lauren Borchert earned All-League Second Team honors, and Kaitlyn Eyink named to the All-Freshman Team.

Toledo (Aug. 3, Toledo, OH; exhibition)
- Toledo finished 7-9-2 last season, ranking ninth in the MAC with a 4-6-1 conference record. This will be the ninth time the two have met, as the Raiders have a 3-4-1 regular season record against Toledo. Their last regular season matchup dates back to 2019, where the Rockets won 4-1.
 
Miami (Aug. 8, Oxford, OH; exhibition)
- Miami (OH) finished 8-10-1 last season, finishing eighth after going 5-6 in the MAC. This will be the 12th time the two have met, as Wright State has a 5-6-0 regular season record against the RedHawks. Their last regular season matchup was in 2022, where the Raiders came out on top 1-0.
 
Illinois (Aug. 15, Champaign, IL; season opener)
- Illinois ended the 2023 season with a 6-8-3 record, going 2-6-2 in the Big 10. This will be the two teams' third matchup, as the Fighting Illina hold a 2-0-0 record over Wright State. Their previous meetings date back to 2010 and 2004.
 
Mercyhurst (Aug. 22, Alumni Field; home opener)
- Mercyhurst tallied a 16-4-1 overall record last season, going 14-1-1 in the PSAC. After falling short in the PSAC Tournament Semifinals, the Lakers ended the 2023 season with a 0-1 loss to Gannon University in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship. This will be the first time the two face Off.
 
Akron (Aug. 25, Akron, OH)
- Akron ended last season with a 3-14-1 record, going 1-9-1 in the MAC. This will be the fourth time the two teams have met, as the Raiders hold a 2-1-0 all-time series record over the Zips. The two last saw each other in Sep. 2023, where the Raiders won 2-1.
 
Indiana (Aug. 29, Bloomington, IL)
- Indiana wrapped up last season with a 12-4-4 overall record, going 6-2-2 in the Big 10. The Hoosiers ended the 2023 season after falling short to Saint Louis in the first round of the NCAA tournament. This will be the fourth matchup between Wright State and Indiana, with Indiana holding a 3-0-0 record against the Raiders. Their previous meetings date back to 2009 and 1998.
 
Southern Indiana (Sep. 1, Evansville, IN)
- Southern Indiana ended the 2023 season with a 4-8-7 overall record, going 3-2-4 in the OVC. Their season ended after falling to Little Rock in the OVC Tournament Quarterfinals. This will be the second time the Wright State has met the Eagles, after the Raiders defeated USI 2-1 last season.
 
Morehead State (Sep. 5, Alumni Field)
- Morehead State wrapped up last season with a 9-6-5 record, going 6-1-2 in the OVC. After taking the OVC Tournament title, the Eagles season concluded falling to top seeded Florida State in the first round of the NCAA tournament. This will be the 19th meeting between Wright State and MSU, as the Raiders hold a 16-1-1 all-time record against the Eagles. The two saw each other last season, as the match ended in a 0-0 tie.
 
Valparaiso (Sep. 8, Alumni Field)
- Valparaiso finished last season with an 11-6-6 overall record, going 3-3-4 in the MVC. After earning the MVC Championship title, the Beacon ended their season in the first round of the NCAA tournament, falling to Notre Dame. This will be the 19th matchup between Valpo and the Raiders, as Wright State holds a 11-2-5 all-time record over the Beacon. Their last meeting ended in a 2-2 double-overtime tie in 2019.
 
Dayton (Sep. 12, Dayton, OH)
- Dayton finished with a 13-2-5 record last season, going 7-0-3 in the A-10. The Flyers season ended in the A-10 semifinals, falling to La Salle. This will be the 33rd matchup between the in-town rivals, as UD has a 23-5-4 all-time record over the Raiders. The two last met in Sep. 2023.
 
Green Bay (Sep. 19, Alumni Field; Horizon League Opener)
- Green Bay finished the 2023 season with a 0-11-5 overall record, going 0-7-3 in the Horizon League. This will be the 33rd meeting between Wright State and the Phoenix, as the Raiders hold a 21-6-5 all-time record over Green Bay. In their last meeting, the Raiders defeated Green Bay 1-0 in Sep. 2023.
 
Milwaukee (Sep. 22, Alumni Field)
- Milwaukee concluded last season with a 12-3-5 overall record, going 7-0-3 in the Horizon League. The Panthers took the 2023 HL regular season title, earning the Tournament Championship title after defeating Northern Kentucky. Milwaukee's season ended after falling to Wisconsin in the first round of the NCAA tournament. This will be the 47th matchup between Wright State and the Panthers, as Milwaukee holds a 30-10-6 all-time record over the Raiders. The two last saw each other in Oct. 2023, as the Panthers won 4-0.
 
Cleveland State (Sep. 29, Alumni Field)
- Cleveland State ended last season with a 4-10-3 overall record, going 1-6-3 in the Horizon League. This will be Wright State's 23rd matchup against the Vikings, as the Raiders hold a 23-7-2 record over CSU. Their last meeting was in Oct. 2023, where the Raiders came out victorious 3-1.
 
Youngstown State (Oct. 5, Youngstown, OH)
- Youngstown State finished the 2023 season with a 7-7-3 overall record, going 3-5-2 in the Horizon League. The Penguins took their last matchup 3-2, while the Raiders hold a 23-2-3 all-time record over YSU.
 
Detroit Mercy (Oct. 10, Detroit, MI)
- Detroit Mercy ended last season with a 7-9-3 overall record, going 5-5-0 in the Horizon League. The Titans concluded their season after falling to Northern Kentucky in the HL Championship Quarterfinals. This will be the 47th meeting between Wright State and the Titans, with the Raiders holding a close 17-14-5 all-time record over Detroit Mercy. They last saw each other in Oct. 2023, with the Raiders coming out on top, 1-0.
 
Oakland (Oct. 13, Rochester, MI)
- Oakland finished last season with a 5-6-7 overall record, going 3-2-5 in the Horizon League. In their last meeting, the Raiders came out victorious 1-0, while the Golden Grizzlies hold the 7-5-1 all-time record over Wright State.
 
IU Indianapolis (Oct. 17, Alumni Field)
- IU Indianapolis finished the 2023 season with a 11-3-5 overall record, going 5-1-4 in the Horizon League. IU Indy's season ended after falling to Northern Kentucky in the HL Championship Semifinals. Their meeting last season ended in a 0-0 tie, while the Raiders hold an 8-3-2 all-time record over the Jaguars.
 
Purdue Fort Wayne (Oct. 20, Alumni Field)
- Purdue Fort Wayne wrapped up the 2023 season with a 5-7-6 overall record, going 2-4-4 in the Horizon League. Wright State holds a 9-1-3 all-time record over the Mastodons, with their last matchup ending in a 1-1 tie in Oct. 2023.
 
Robert Morris (Oct. 26, Moon Township, PA)
- Robert Morris ended last season with a 12-5-3 overall record, going 5-4-1 in the Horizon League. Their season ended in the HL Semifinals, falling short to Milwaukee. The Colonials last saw Wright State in the HL Quarterfinals, defeating the Raiders 4-1. Wright State holds a 4-3-0 all-time record over RMU.
 
Northern Kentucky (Oct. 30, Highland Heights, KY)
- Northern Kentucky finished the 2023 season with an 8-4-8 overall record, going 4-2-4 in the Horizon League. Their season concluded, falling to Milwaukee in the HL Championship. NKU holds a 2-7-2 all-time record over Wright State, with their last matchup ending in a 0-0 tie in Oct. 2023.
