Women’s Soccer adds First Win of the Season at Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Indiana – The Wright State Women's Soccer team tallied their first win of the 2024 season, defeating the University of Southern Indiana 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The win comes from first-half goals by Ruby Dunlevy and Ainsley Terada.
Wright State (1-3-0) outshot Southern Indiana (0-4-1) in attempts, 10-8, and shots on goal, 6-3. The Screaming Eagles bested WSU in corner kicks, 6-4, and saves, 4-2. The Raiders were led by Dunlevy's three shots, with two on goal. Goalkeeper Kiera Sarka logged all 90 minutes of play, tallying two saves.
The Raiders were the first to score, as Olivia Stroud battled down the field, passing to Dunlevy. Dunlevy quickly slipped a shot past an Eagles defender and goalkeeper, scoring not only her first collegiate goal, but the Raider's first goal of the season in the 18th minute.
The Raiders further raised their advantage to two in the 27th minute, beginning as Olivia Mace delivered a corner kick. The ball ricocheted near the goal as Kaitlyn Eyink found possession and passed it to Terada, who snuck it passed the goalkeeper, finding the back of the net to add her own first career goal.
USI added their one goal second half, scoring in the 76th minute with a goal by Eva Boer.
Wright State will return home, hosting Morehead State for their 2024 home opener on Thursday, September 5 at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to support the Raiders in person with free admission and a season poster giveaway. The game will have live stats provided.
