Jay Skrabacz enters his third year on the Raider coaching staff, coming aboard in August, 2006. His primary focus will be working with the pitchers, catchers, recruiting and assisting in all aspects of the game.
Skrabacz (pronounced SKRAH-botch) comes to Wright State with 21 years of coaching and playing experience. He got his start in fastpitch as a centerfielder and first baseman in 1984 and played for several years. He began coaching in 1987, progressing from men's teams to women's teams as a U-12 coach up to U-18 travel teams before eventually coaching at the high school and college levels.
He then was an assistant for three years at Cedarville University under current Raider assistant coach Sue Carpenter, working primarily with the pitchers, catchers and outfielders.
Skrabacz spent 21 years in the United States Air Force and retired in May, 2004. He served in the USAF in three different countries and continues to serve as a civilian at nearby Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
A Pennsylvania native, Jay resides in Cedarville with son Zachary, 18, who is a senior at Cedarville High School.
