Chris Black
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Chris Black is entering his first season with the Wright State men's soccer program and his fourth season with the Wright State women's soccer program as the goalkeepers coach. Black is no stranger to the college coaching ranks, as he held an assistant coaching position with the University of Findlay before joining the Green and Gold.
In 2007 and 2008, Black helped develop current WSU keeper Meghan Hackerson into a stalwart in the net. Hackerson owns a career goals against average among the schools leaders and her shutout total ranks among the top-ten in Horizon League history.
Black spent the 2006 season working with the Raiders net minders and aiding in game day preparation. He worked with Second-Team All-Horizon League selection and NSCAA Third Team All-Region honoree, Steph Comisar. During the '06 slate, the Raiders posted nine shutouts and posted their third straight season with a goals against average of 1.00 or lower.
Prior to joining the WSU program, Black spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program at Miamisburg High School. While at MHS, he developed a workout program for the student-athletes, scouted opponents and acted as the goalkeeper coach.
Before returning to his high school alma mater, Black spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the men's and women's programs at the University of Findlay. Working as the goalkeeping coach, Black also oversaw the individual workouts and was the skills and tactical instructor for the team. During his time with UF the team compiled a 21-7-6 record, including a 13-2-2 mark during the 2001 slate.
An active member of the local club soccer scene, Black is involved with the Ohio Galaxies Futbol Club and the Ohio South Olympic Development Program. He was the head coach of the Ohio Galaxies U17 club from 2004-06 and also coached Team Dayton from 2002-04.
Black was a four year starter in goal during his time at the University of Findlay, a Division II university in Ohio. During his time as a player, Black helped the Oilers to three 10+ win seasons and 39 overall wins.
He holds his National Soccer Coaches Association of America Regional and National Goalkeeper Diploma, along with his United States Soccer Federation National "D" License.
Black earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Findlay in 2001 and is currently pursuing his master's degree in education.
