Dan Griffin

Dan Griffin joined the Wright State Athletics Department in October of 2024 as the Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. 

In this role, he will work with and oversee advancement, communications, external sales, marketing,and ticketing. 

He comes to Wright State after five years at Kent State where he served as the Assistant Athletics Director for communications and broadcasting. While with the Golden Flashes, he was the primary media contact for the athletic department as well as the baseball, football, and wrestling teams. He was part of the communications staff for the Flashes' first ever bowl win in the 2019 Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl. Griffin also served as the primary contact and voice for the 2024 Mid-American Conference Wrestling Championships and the 2023 Mid-American Conference Baseball Championships. 

In addition to his communications role, Griffin served as one of the voices of Kent State from 2021-24. As the Director of Broadcasting, Griffin hosted the weekly sports show FlashTalk, which can be seen on Bally's Sports Great Lakes and Bally's Sports Ohio. Additionally, he served as one of the broadcasters for the Golden Flashes on ESPN+,  BoxCast and the Kent State Radio Network. 

Previous stops along the way include Saint Francis (PA) and Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, where he served in a similar role. His first job out of college was for a group of radio stations in Morehead, Kentucky covering Morehead State University and local high school sports. He is a 2006 graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a 2012 graduate of Liberty University Online with a Master's in Education-Sports Administration. 

A native Chicagoan, Dan is a loyal Chicago sports fan and is one of the few that chose the White Sox over the Cubs. 
He and his wife Cortney have been married since 2017 and have a daughter Amelia.
