Jason Franklin

Jason Franklin currently serves as the Deputy Athletic Director at Wright State, overseeing the day to day operations of the athletic department. Additionally, he supervises the facilities and operations department as well as all external relations and branding. Franklin is the primary sport supervisor for golf and cross country/track &field as well as men’s basketball.

After 20 years as an athletic trainer at Wright State, Franklin initially moved in to a leadership role as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, supervising the sports medicine department, the strength and conditioning staff and equipment room. 

A 1995 Wright State graduate, Franklin received a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a concentration in athletic training and was involved with several teams while a student athletic trainer. He then served as an athletic trainer for the Springfield (OH) City Schools and at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Florida.
 
Franklin joined the Wright State athletic training staff in 2003, working with the women's basketball team for five seasons as assistant athletic trainer before being promoted to head Athletic Trainer in 2008 and began working with the men’s basketball team. He has overseen the expansion of the athletic training program, adding staff and designing their state-of-the-art athletic training room.  

From 1997-99, Franklin was a graduate assistant athletic trainer and teaching assistant at the University of Florida, earning his master's degree in exercise and sport science there in 1998. While at Florida, he was the athletic trainer for men’s swimming and dive as well as men’ tennis. He worked with numerous Olympic athletes and NCAA champions while at Florida. After returning to Ohio, he worked at both the Franciscan Medical Center and the Kettering Sports Medicine Center, with his main focus being the head athletic trainer of the Dayton Bombers minor league hockey team for four seasons. Along with treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, Franklin was also responsible for all strength and conditioning programs.

A member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Franklin resides in Beavercreek with his wife, Angie, who competed in women's soccer for the Raiders from 1992-95, and two daughters, Sydney and Avery.
