Pandelis Popgeorgiev joined the Wright State men’s soccer coaching staff in May 2026.

Popgeorgiev joins the Raiders after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Western Oregon in the 2025 season. A year in which the Wolves enjoyed a historic season where they finished ranked in the Top 25 nationally in NCAA Division II, won the GNAC regular season and tournament championships, and made the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Before his time at Western Oregon, Popgeorgiev was a graduate assistant for two seasons at Thomas More, gaining valuable experience at the collegiate level. Also, during his time in Crestview Hills, he worked in youth soccer as the head coach for the Kings Hammer 2008 Academy Team.

Before his coaching career, Popgeorgiev played three professional seasons in Hungary, winning three domestic league cup championships. He played collegiately for four seasons at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he ranks in the top 10 for career assists (9) and shots (118). At the youth level, Popgeorgiev made 40 appearances with the Hungarian Youth National Teams, including during a successful qualification for the UEFA U17 European Championship. He was developed as a player in the biggest club system in Hungary, Ferencváros Budapest.

He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a master’s degree in business management from Thomas More. Popgeorgiev is also fluent in English, Greek, and Hungarian.
