Robert Ray was named Wright State's Interim Director of Athletics in April 2026.
Ray joined the Wright State athletic department in 2016 and served as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Administration prior to his appointment. In that role, Ray oversees academics, compliance, the athletics budget, and three Raider programs (men's soccer, women's soccer, and women's bowling).

Ray previously worked in the department as the Coordinator of Academic Success Programs, advising student-athletes on various academic matters such as major selection, course selection and NCAA eligibility requirements.

Prior to coming to Wright State, Ray worked a variety of jobs in the public sector. He earned his BS in Business Finance in 2008 from Wright State and added a Master of Business Administration in 2009, also from Wright State.

Ray lives in the Dayton area with his wife and daughter.
