The Wright State women's basketball team led by one six minutes into the game, but Dayton followed with a 22-5 run as the Flyers went on to a 65-46 win Sunday afternoon at UD Arena.
The Raiders trailed in the first half until a Tatianna Hall foul shot and a three by Kanisha Ward gave WSU a 10-9 edge at the 13:44 mark. From there, however, it was all Dayton as the Flyers scored the next 10 points, including two Kiki Lund threes, and later had a 12-0 burst, four each from Kelly Keil and Brittany Holterman, to make it 31-15 with three minutes remaining in the period.
Dayton went 43-23 on a Kristin Daughtery jumper five minutes into the second half, only to see Wright State score the next nine points, capped off by steals and fast-break layups from Shey Peddy and LaShawna Thomas. Kendal Ross broke the string for UD with a three, but the Raiders answered with a Thomas jumper and a Charne Dixon foul shots to trail just 46-35 with 8:43 left.
The Flyers, however, put the game out of reach with an 11-2 run over the next four minutes.
Dayton shot 58 percent from the field for the game while the Raiders were at 32 percent. Wright State held a 32-30 rebounding advantage on the taller Flyers, but UD led in points in the paint 30-24 and hit 10 of 19 from the foul line compared to eight of 16 for WSU.
Sierra Crayton led the Raiders with 13 points while Peddy had 12 and Thomas eight along with seven rebounds.
Holterman paced Dayton (9-2) with 14 points while Lund added 12 off the bench. Overall, 11 Flyers scored as UD had a 32-5 advantage in points off the bench.
