The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games at Ohio Wednesday afternoon, falling 8-0 in the opener and 1-0 in the nightcap.

Ohio scored a run in the first, but WSU threatened to tie the game in the third as the Raiders loaded the bases with no outs as Briauna Birl walked, Kristen Bradshaw had an infield hit and Jherica Williams reached on an error.

Bobcat pitcher Michelle Sauter, however, escaped the threat with two strikeouts and a pop up and Ohio broke the game open in the fourth in scoring six times on seven hits.

Game two was scoreless until Kelly Rodriguez hit a home run to left center in the fourth to provide the Bobcats what turned out to be the only run of the game. The Raiders had an opportunity to either tie the game or take the lead in the fifth as a Birl infield single and an Erica Schroeder double to left center put runners at second and third with two out, but Bradshaw's bid for a hit up the middle was grabbed head high by pitcher Candace Saucedo, who threw to first for the final out.

Wright State threatened again in the sixth as Williams led off with a double to right center and went to third on a Kristen Farley line drive to right, but came up empty as Saucedo induced a pop up and a ground out to retire the side.

Bradshaw, Williams and Birl each had two hits on the day to pace the Raider offense.

Wright State, now 17-27 on the season, returns to action this weekend by hosting Youngstown State in Horizon League action. The Raiders and Penguins will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 28, at 1:00, followed by a single game on Sunday, April 29, at 11:00.
