The Wright State softball team trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth, but dominated the rest of the way, scoring the final seven runs of the contest in recording an 8-3 win over the Youngstown State Penguins Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of their three-game Horizon League series.

It was a scoreless game until WSU tallied a run in the third as a wild pitch allowed Briauna Birl to score. Youngstown State (14-17, 5-6 Horizon), however, answered with three of its own in the top of the fourth, two on RBI singles from Kristen McDonnell and Bethany Hafley.

The Raiders, though, came right back to tie the game in its half of the fourth as, with two outs, Allison Cox drove in Jamie Perkins with a hit through the left side and Klingler followed with a double to the gap in left center to plate Cox.

Wright State then went in front for good with five more in the fifth. An Erica Schroder hit knocked in the go-ahead run and WSU tacked on four more thanks in part to a Perkins single and two-run hit up the middle by Cox.

Cox (12-12) picked up the win in relief as she gave up no runs on just two hits with no walks and three strikeouts over 3.1 innings. Offensively, she had two hits while driving in three.

The bottom three of the Raider batting order had a big day as, along with Cox's two hits and three RBI, Klingler had two hits and a RBI and Birl went three-for-three with two runs scored.

Wright State, now 19-28 overall and 6-7 in the Horizon League, heads to Columbus Tuesday for a makeup doubleheader with the Big Ten-leading Ohio State Buckeyes (31-15, 12-2), starting at 3:00.
