The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games in day two of the USF Louisville Slugger Tournament Saturday in Tampa, falling to Hofstra 5-1 and Georgia Tech 5-0.
Hofstra (6-3) went in front to stay with a run in the first and, after adding another in the third, broke the game open with a three-run home run from Carolann Lubach in the fifth.
The lone Raider run came in the sixth as Allison Cox smacked her second home run of the season to left.
The first inning proved to be the difference against Georgia Tech as the Yellow Jackets (5-7) scored all five of their runs in that frame, the key blows being a two-run double by Whitney Haller and a two-run homer from Jessica Weaver. Cox kept the deficit there the rest of the way as she threw 5.1 innings of scoreless relief with a pair of strikeouts.
Wright State, now 2-7 on the season, concludes tournament play Sunday morning at 11:30 against South Carolina.
