
Weekend Recap: Women's Tennis Splits a Pair of Matches

DAYTON, OH - The Wright State women's tennis team hosted a pair of matches this weekend and posted a 1-1 overall record. WSU fell to Milwaukee in their Horizon League opener on Saturday and then topped Lipscomb on Sunday for their first victory of the spring.
Against Milwaukee, the Raiders dropped a hard-fought doubles point that was decided by a 9-7 vicotry by Milwaukee in the #1 doubles match. The Raiders would drop the #1 singles match, but rally to take the #2 and #3 singles matches. Karina Presti posted a 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 victory at the #2 singles spot and Christa Ames won 6-3, 6-3 in the #3 singles slot.
The Raiders would fall in the next three singles matches and Milwaukee would claim the 5-2 victory.
On Sunday, the Raiders took to the court against Lipscomb and posted their first victory of the spring with a 4-3 triumph over the Bison. WSU won the doubles point and three of the first four singles matches in the win.
Jessica Lee and Presti kicked things off with a victory at the #1 singles spot, while Ames and Kenisha Webb took the #2 doubles match to secure the point for the Raiders.
In the singles portion, the Raiders posted wins at the #2, #3 and #4 spots to secure their first victory of the spring. Lee posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the #2 spot and Webb won her #4 singles match by scores of 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-1.
Presti continued her solid play during her #3 singles match against the Bison. The junior claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win and ended the week with a 2-0 singles record. She also teamed with Lee to win a pair of doubles matches against Milwaukee and Lipscomb.
The Raiders are now 1-4 overall this spring and are 0-1 in Horizon League play. The women's team will return to the courts on Sunday, March 2 against St. Louis starting at 10:00 a.m. at Five Seasons Tennis Club.
