
Women's Tennis Splits A Pair of Road Matches

VALPARAISO, Ind. - The Wright State women's tennis team split a pair of matches on their weekend road trip to Valparaiso. The Green and Gold defeated host Valpo, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon and lost 7-0 to league leading UIC on Sunday.
The Raiders opened the weekend with a strong showing against Valparaiso on their home court, winning 4-3. WSU started the match by taking the two opening doubles matches from the Crusaders. Christa Ames and Karina Presti and Jessica Lee also posted an 8-3 victory over the Valpo pair of Julie Wingstrom and Kim Sajevic.
In singles, WSU dropped the #1 singles match as Lee retired against Sajevic to tie the match at 1-1. Ames, Presti and Webb would all follow with victories to seal the victory for the Raiders. Ames won over Schwartz, 6-2, 4-1 (retired), while Presti posted a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Keifer and Webb won 6-0, 6-2 over Wingstrom to give WSU the win.
Against UIC, the Raiders were unable to crack the scoring column as they fell to the Flames, 7-0.
UIC posted victories in all six singles matches and took the win in all three doubles matches from the Raiders. WSU fell to 3-14 overall and 1-5 in Horizon League play.
