INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Wright State women's tennis squad dropped a pair of matches at the 2008 Horizon League Championships in Indianapolis. The Raiders fell, 4-2, to Milwaukee to open tournament play and ended their season with a 4-2 loss to Youngstown State.
Against the Panthers, WSU won their first match at the #2 doubles spot as Jessica Lee and Karina Presti captured an 8-1 victory over the Panthers. The Raiders would drop the doubles point, however, but win the first two singles matches.
Lee posted a victory at the #1 singles spot over Kelly Drvaric, winning 6-0, 6-3. Then at the #2 position, Christa Ames posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Martina Schnapp to give WSU a 2-1 advantage in the match.
Milwaukee would win the next three singles matches and claim the 4-2 victory in the opening round of the 2008 Horizon League Championships.
In their second match against Youngtown State, the Green and Gold again collected a victory at #2 doubles. Lee and Presti defeated Emily Thayer and Kelly Culbertson, 8-4, but WSU dropped the #1 and #3 doubles matches to give YSU an early 1-0 edge.
Lee won her second doubles match of the weekend with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over the Penguins Anna Volkova at the #1 singles spot. Kenisha Webb accounted for the only other point for WSU with a victory over Michelle Fuleky, as Fuleky retired.
The Green and Gold end the season with a 3-18 mark overall and a 1-6 showing in Horizon League play under first year head coach Nate Reinhart.
